Junior Sailing Program - Summer 2025
Whether your child is new to sailing or ready to race, we have an exciting programme this summer. From fun on the water to structured training, there's something for every young sailor. Just about every Saturday from now until the end of the summer holidays, junior members can book onto our free Saturday programs of OnBard and Junior Race training. Then, over the May half term, we run cadet week, where we run RYA Stage 1 to Stage 4 courses as well as a spinnaker course.
OnBoard Adventures Afloat!
Starts: Saturday 10th May | Time: 1300 - 1500
A fun, relaxed way to improve sailing skills, gain confidence, and make new friends. Our OnBoard sessions are packed with games and challenges designed to help young sailors progress while enjoying time on the water.
- Suitable for sailors with basic experience (not complete beginners)
- Ideal progression for those who want to progress after a stage 1 or 2 course
- Parents/guardians must stay and assist with rigging and launching
- Mid-session break for snacks and drinks

Junior Race Training
Starts: Saturday 10th May | Time: 1300 - 1630 | Most Saturdays
Perfect for junior sailors ready to take on club racing or local regattas such as the Cambs Youth Sailing League. These sessions offer structured coaching in:
- Racing starts and tactics
- Boat tuning for speed
- Race strategy and simplified racing rules
Requirements: Sailors must be able to recover from a capsize and rig/launch independently.

May Half Term RYA Courses
Dates: Tuesday 27 - Friday 30 May | Time: 0930 - 1630
A full week of training for junior members aged 814. Courses include:
- Stage 1 & 2 Ideal for beginners £220
- Stage 3 & 4 For developing sailors; includes single and double-handed tuition £220
- Start Racing (27-28 May) For Stage 3+ sailors moving into competitive racing £220
- Sailing with Spinnakers (29-30 May) For Stage 3+ sailors ready for advanced skills £110
Prices exclude boat hire (payable by card on Day 1). Buoyancy aids provided.

Boat Camp
Dates: Monday 11, Thursday 14 August
Four days of sailing fun, games, and adventure! Boat Camp is all about enjoying time on the water in a relaxed, supportive environment. Designed for junior sailors of all abilities, this is a great way to build confidence, learn through play, and make new friends.
- Fun activities on and off the water
- Use of a wide range of club boats
- Informal coaching through games and group challenges
- Focus on teamwork, confidence, and sailing enjoyment
Open to junior members aged 8-14.
Boat hire included. Buoyancy aids are provided.
